Royal Expert Reveals Why "Angry" Kate Middleton "Refused" to Curtsy to Queen Camilla at Coronation

Kate Middleton defied royal protocol and didn't curtsy to the queen.

More than 10 million Americans watched the coronation of Britain's King Charles III, according to CNN ,and chances are anyone who turned in may have missed an "angry" Kate Middleton refusing to curtsy to Queen Camilla. But according to royal biographer Tom Bower, the tension was noticeable at the event. The Princess of Wales didn't bow to the newly crowned monarch as she left Westminster Abbey, which is a sign of disrespect and Bower revealed why in an appearance on "Dan Wootton Tonight."

Bower explained that the drama with the princess and Camilla started when she was only allowed to invite four people to the event, while the queen had 20 people in attendance. "Camilla brought 20 Parker Bowleses to the coronation and there were four Middletons," Bower said on the show. He later confirmed only Middleton's siblings were not allowed to bring their partners.

According to Bower, Middleton showed her anger towards Camilla by not curtseying.  "If you look at the coronation footage, as the king and queen leave the thrones and head for the exit of Westminster Abbey," continued Bower, "you'll see that everyone bows and curtsies to the king and no one moves a limb, a muscle, when Camilla passes." He added, "And that's because they were angry with Camilla."

For more than two decades, people worked behind the scenes to change people's perception of Camila, according to Bower, and were livid when they didn't get an invite to the big event where she was crowned. "I've heard from people who were involved more than 20 years ago who were involved in resurrecting Camila. Their job was to take her from the mistress in 1996 and get her to be queen. They were absolutely furious that they weren't invited to the coronation." He added, "There are dozens of people who helped Camila become what she is today, the queen, and not just the mistress."

While the general public may not have realized the drama unfolding, others at the event did. Bower said, "Kate and William were angry too. "And in that moment it was absolutely noticeable to those people who had been excluded that nobody — let alone Kate — curtsied to Queen Camilla."

She's 76, she smoked heavily all her life and she's not well." He added, "Those who met her in the weeks before the coronation noticed a very tired, very worn-out woman with telltale signs of age, and she's clearly exhausted by the whole thing."

Prince Andrew was connected to sex trafficker Jeffery Episten and was stripped of his royal duties when he was accused of assaulting a trafficked minor on several occasions. The case was settled out of court, and now Andrew is embroiled in a new drama. He's currently living in The Royal Lodge and won't leave. "He's got legal grounds not to go," Bower explained. "He paid a lot of money [to live there], but the problem is he can't afford the maintenance on that building, which is about 1 million pounds a year. Without Charles' help, he's really stuck there. Charles will have to force him out."
