Man Tries to Eat Like NFL Star for 24 Hours, 21,600 Calories in a Day
A YouTube influencer challenged himself to JJ Watt’s extreme diet.
How much food you need to eat depends on a variety of factors, including gender, height, weight, age, and activity level. For example, if you are a short, lightweight, sedentary female, your caloric requirements are significantly less than a tall, heavy, active male. It's no secret that professional athletes often consume a shocking amount of calories, as they are constantly moving their bodies and burning up fuel. But what happens when a normal person tries to match their daily food intake? One YouTube influencer was up for the challenge.
ErikTheElectric, a YouTube influencer with more than 3 million subscribers, opted to try out NFL defensive end turned Burnley minority-owner JJ Watt's 21,620 calories per day diet.
"JJ required two breakfasts, two lunches, and two dinners. It's so big that it's about five days worth of food for the average person," he exclaims in the video, giving himself until midnight "to finish every single meal JJ had on his massive meal plan" plus his cheat meals. "I'm going to have to finish all of JJ's favorite cheat meals in addition to his massive meal plan, which is really going to make this challenge extra challenging."
His first breakfast is milk, eggs, strawberries, blueberries, oatmeal with brown sugar. "Oatmeal is one of the most filling foods out there, so I knew this might give me trouble. Oh, Oatmeal is delicious, but it's dense. It looks like a brick," he said. The final part of the first breakfast? A banana.
The first part of JJ's second breakfast was two slices of wheat toast with peanut butter and banana, along with "some glorious honey," he says. "It's been a while since I've had a peanut butter banana honey sandwich." He moved on to the next item, two slices of wheat toast with jelly. The last part of JJ's second breakfast was four eggs.
Erik tried JJ's favorite brunch order for his first cheat meal, stuffed French toast. "I knew this french toast was going to be good, but this french toast was a flavor explosion like no other. I've eaten a lot of french toast in my life, but for some reason this tasted extra amazing. But as I got back to work on the rest of the french toast, I started feeling the effects of that giant bowl of oatmeal I ate earlier," he confessed. Then, he chowed down a potato pancake.
For his first lunch, Erik eats broccoli with ranch dressing, three chicken breasts wrapped in bacon, and whole wheat pasta.
For his second lunch, Erik eats steamed carrots and more chicken breasts, "which I again decided to eat completely wrapped in bacon," she said.
For his second cheat meal, he turned to barbecue, "one of JJ Watt's favorite things to eat. He likes it so much that he gets smoked Turkey and lean cuts of brisket mailed to him," he says. "Unfortunately, there aren't any places near me that serve smoked Turkey, but I was able to get my hands on the best brisket in my city."
For his first dinner, Erik eats lamb chops, another plate of pasta, and some asparagus.
For his second dinner, Erik feasts on filet mignon with a side of steamed broccoli and the last part of J's second dinner, " another plate of whole wheat pasta."
According to People.com, JJ Watt also loved to finish off the day with a sweet treat. Erik "finished the whole package," to end his challenge. "And just like that everybody, that has been the highest calorie meal plan in NFL history," he said.

"I have successfully finished every single meal on JJ Watt's massive meal plan," he says. "It finally hit me how insane these pro athlete diets really are. Not only that, but with the amount of vegetables, lean protein, and fruit JJ was taking in every single day, he really does seem like a guy who genuinely likes eating healthy food."
