Prince Harry Reveals William Used "Secret Code" to Communicate at Funeral

According to Prince Harry, he and his brother have communicated with a secret code for years.

Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, haven't exactly been on speaking terms for quite some time now. The two brothers, who used to be as thick as thieves, went from spending time together to barely even being able to sit in the same room, with their relationship starting to deteriorate shortly after Harry started dating American actress Meghan Markle. However, according to Harry, William used their secret code to communicate an important message to him.

The Secret Code

During an interview promoting his tell-all Spare, Harry revealed that he used code to communicate with William at their grandfather's funeral, Prince Philip. However, he claims the communication wasn't that effective.

They Hadn't Been Together in A While

During an interview with ITV's Tom Bradby, Harry explained that when his grandfather died in 2021, he hadn't spent any time with his brother in a while. They were reunited at the ceremony and were photographed walking together.

William Used The "Special Code" to send Harry a Message

He says William used their "special code" to send him a message. "Harold, you must listen to me. I just want you to be happy, Harold, I swear, I swear on mummy's life," Prince William reportedly said.

Their Secret Code Was "On Mummy's Life"

William had "used the secret code, the universal password, ever since we were boys those three words were to be used only in times of extreme crisis, 'on mummy's life,'" he added.

Harry "Didn't Believe" William

Duke of Sussex (Prince Harry).

"It stopped me cold, as it was meant to," Harry confessed to Bradby. "Not because he'd used it, but because it didn't work. I simply didn't believe him."

Harry Also Claimed That William Physically Assaulted Him

In the book, Harry made a shocking allegation William physically assaulted him in his home at Kensington Palace in 2019 after calling his wife, Meghan Markle, "difficult," "rude," and "abrasive."

Harry writes that William "grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor." He was left with visible cuts and bruises on his back.

He Claims That He Later Denied Doing It

He then said that William left Nottingham Cottage, returning "looking regretful, and apologized." Before he left again, he told Harry not to tell Meghan about the incident. "'You mean that you attacked me?' 'I didn't attack you, Harold,'" Harry writes.

Instead of telling his wife, he called his therapist first. But later, Meghan saw the "scrapes and bruises," but "wasn't that surprised, and wasn't all that angry. She was terribly sad."
