Teen Who Vanished 8 Years Ago Found Alive
There are many questions as to what happened to Rudy Farias, now 25.
According to National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, there are currently 23,401 people currently reported missing in the country. Most people who go missing are found quickly, and according to estimates, only one percent remain missing. Rudy Farias, a 17-year-old Texas boy, went missing eight years ago. Over the weekend, he was found alive with cuts and bruises all over his body.
The Texas Center for the Missing tweeted on Sunday that Farias, now 25, had been reunited with his family after going missing in 2015. However, he was found with cuts and bruises and is currently in the hospital.
"After 8 long years, Rudy has been located safe. Please continue to keep his family in your prayers as Rudy recovers in the hospital," the tweet reads.
When Farias was 17 he disappeared while walking his dogs near his family's home. The dogs returned home, but he never did.
A good samaritan called 911 on Saturday when they saw him outside of a church, unresponsive with cuts, bruises, and blood in his hair, the woman told KTRK. His mom added to KPRC that her son was in "bad shape" mentally and physically.
"How did this happen? We believe in miracles and this certainly was a miracle," Texas EquuSearch director Tim Miller said. "I can't even tell you how many times we searched and how many leads and tips came in and they just kind of faded away and now all of a sudden, this." He added that there are lots of unanswered questions. "There's a lot to investigate to kind of see what happened, where it happened, how it happened," he said.
"It's him!!! It's our Rudy," his family wrote on social media. "He's been found alive and in the hospital for awhile!! Nikki Garza and I just literally left the hospital a few minutes ago after being there most of the evening and night. Rudy is in pretty bad shape, he has cuts, soft tissue tomors, small openings and swelling on the soles of his feet, along with bruising, old and new cuts/scrapes on his body, old dry blood on his head and hair, he has very very dark complexion now almost unrecognisable.It broke our hearts to see him in this condition. God only knows what he has endured during his time away from home."
"'He flinches if you try to touch him or hug him thinking we are going to strike him. He thinks his name is Julio Torres and he is 14 now," it continued. They added that he barely speaks and that his journey to recovery will be long.
