Eye-Bulging "Karen" Screams at "Low-Class Slime" in Racist Rant
The racist tirade was shared to TikTok.
The term "Karen" has become so mainstream it has its very own Wikipedia page. "Karen is a pejorative term used as slang for a middle-class white woman who is perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal," says the online encyclopedia. They go on to explain that the term is often portrayed in memes depicting middle-class white women who "use their white and class privilege to demand their own way." This week the country was introduced to a new "Karen" in the form of a viral TikTok video of a white woman majorly lashing out at a group of Latino people for having a family BBQ at her community swimming pool.
In the video, a blonde woman in sunglasses and a bathing suit complains about the large group of people. "Yes, it's true," she said. "You have a [word we cannot print here] Mexican party in a pool. Trash," she says. A man walking alongside her on the phone accidentally bumps into her.
"You can't do that. You can't just record me," she yells at him, slapping the phone out of his hands. Eventually, the man with the phone holds the woman down on a pool lounger as someone calls her a "racist Karen."
The woman keeps yelling and shouting saying, "Get the [word we cannot print here] out" and "Go back down to Denver." When asked to leave the pool, she responds that she lives in Lakewood, a suburb.
"I live here, nowhere you ever came from, you …low-class slime," she yells. Eventually, three police officers arrive and talk with the woman.
"Let's find her! Mind you, she was saying racial comments the whole day, even pointing out our parties children saying 'when they grow up they will be trash too,'" wrote Jade Serie, who shared the video. "According to this Karen, all Mexicans are low class. I hope this video is found by her coworkers, family, and friends. Acting like this at a family BBQ with children is absolutely disgusting."
The Daily Mail identified the Karen in question as Karen Featherman, who specializes in Feng Shui interior decorating. It is claimed she deleted her social media accounts after the incident. She also worked at an art gallery. "It has come to our attention that a former employee has appeared on social media expressing hateful and offensive statements," the Masters Gallery said in a statement. "Master's Gallery Denver has not employed this individual for over 5 years and condemns any actions or statements expressing hatred or racism."
