5 Reasons Why Prince Harry and Meghan's Future is "Tough'"

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are encountering some tough blows

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle parted ways with the Royal Family and moved to California, their future in the entertainment industry seemed promising. Signing lucrative multi-million dollar deals with streaming services and publishing companies, they splashed down millions of dollars on a Montecito estate and seemed financially secure for the long haul. However, in recent weeks, things have gotten a little bit "tough" for the couple. From being dropped from a major deal to a massive strike that impacts their media future, here are 5 reasons why the couple might be worried about their future.

1
Their Spotify Deal Falling Apart

While Spotify is just one of many deals the Sussex's cooked up, being dropped by the streaming service and losing the $20 million dollar deal after just one series, might signify that the couple doesn't have as much star power as previously believed. Other companies will likely be more hesitant to offer them multi-million dollar deals as a result. "Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together," a joint statement read. While Meghan is said to be "continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform," she has yet to reveal any more details.

The Writers Strike Has Stalled Their Netflix Offerings

The largest deal the couple has landed is with Netflix, rumored to be worth a whopping $100 million. However, they are limited in what they can do until the Hollywood writer's strike is over.

They Are "Overexposed"

Graydon Carter, Vanity Fair's iconic editor, recently make a huge declaration about Harry and Meghan. "They have too much attention. For people like that, unavailability is your greatest asset. If you're out there too much, the public has a chance to get sick of you. I think they've made every wrong move you can make," he told The Telegraph.

They Have Very Little Family Support

Another reason why their future is tough? "Harry and Meghan are just fascinating concepts," Carter added to The Telegraph. "They've done something they'll live to regret, which is their children have no relatives. They have no cousins that they see, or uncles or aunts, and they don't see grandparents, except for one," he said. "That will come back to haunt them at a certain point."

5
Failed Netflix Projects

While the couple started out their Netflix delta with a bang, releasing the highly hyped Harry & Meghan docuseries, they have yet to follow it up with anything. In fact, their animated series "Pearl" was dropped in April 2022 before it even got made and Harry's "Heart of Invictus" documentary is still TBD. According to The Telegraph, the couple aren't planning to star in any more of their own shows, which could also limit interest.
