MaKayla Thomas reveals a delicious, under-300 calorie meal that is packed with protein.
You don't have to starve yourself to lose weight, nor do you have to eat boring food, contrary to popular belief – and there are a number of weight loss influencers who can attest to that. One of them is MaKayla (@makayla_thomas_fit) who has amassed 1.5 million followers on TikTok by documenting her weight loss journey and sharing her easy but healthy recipes on the social media site. Her latest delicious meal getting a lot of attention? A lazy girl lasagna that helped her lose 50 pounds, she claims.
"If you love good food but have goals to reach (and have a picky family) try this one skillet meal I ate with my family while losing 50 pounds postpartum," she wrote on the video.
To make the "lazy girl" skillet lasagna, she starts off by breaking off 6 pieces of lasagne noodles. Then, she boils them for six minutes until cooked.
Next, she sautees a pound of Italian turkey sausage (or lean beef). She then adds one-half jar of marinara sauce, adds seasoning, and then adds cooked noodles.
Next up is making the "creamy layer." She suggests adding "tons of protein" in the form of 5 oz of Greek yogurt, a half cup of ricotta, a quarter cup of skim mozzarella, and a quarter cup of parmesan. Then, she adds half a teaspoon of Italian, garlic, seasoning salt, and pepper.
Now, she adds the creamy layer to the mixture and adds another half jar of marinara sauce.
She "tricks" her kids into eating the meal by adding turkey pepperoni and then skim mozzarella on top until melted.
The recipe makes 7 servings. A single serving was just 281 calories, 11 grams fat, 24 carbs and 21 grams of protein.
Prior to falling in love with health and fitness, MaKayla was a new mom who had put on an unwanted 50 pounds and struggled to lose them.
