Top 10 States Where You're Most Likely to Get Hurt in an Accident
Be careful in these places.
Accidents happen—in some places more often than others. Researchers with the law firm Injured in Florida analyzed the number of online searches for accident-related terms—such as "broken nose," "how to tell if a bone is fractured" and "urgent care"—during the last year in all 50 states. These are the ten states with the highest number of queries, suggesting where you're most likely to be injured in an accident.
Oregon residents make 1,156 online searches for accident-related terms each month per 100,000 residents.
Free State residents are seemingly the nation's ninth most accident-prone: There are 1,169 accident-related searches per 100,000 residents monthly. An August Forbes survey found Baltimore is the city where you're most likely to have a car accident in the U.S.
Virginia residents make 1,184 monthly searches for accident terms per 100,000 residents. The #1 search there, as in every state, is urgent care.
The land of the Vikings appears to be fairly brutal for personal safety: There are 1,192 searches for accident terms for every 100,000 residents each month.
Massachusetts comes in sixth nationwide, with 1,229 monthly searches for accident-related terms per 100,000 residents. In a separate poll released last August, Insurify found that Massachusetts has the second-highest number of car accidents in the country. Only South Carolina has more.
Washington state makes the top five, with 1,229 monthly searches per 100,000 citizens.
In North Carolina, there are 1,323 monthly searches for accident terms per 100,000 residents.
Trouble in paradise seems to be relatively frequent: In Hawaii, there are 1,401 monthly searches for accident-related terms per 100,000 people.
Colorado is the national runner-up with 1,432 searches per 100,000 people.
The Grand Canyon State seems to be the most accident-prone in the United States—residents look for 1,584 accident-related terms per every 100,000 people each month.
