Princess Diana's Brother Breaks Silence on Prince Harry's Bitter Phone-Hacking Case
Earl Spencer defends his Nephew on social media.
The Royal Family is notoriously private when it comes to all family matters. They rarely address rumors or comment on any news stories, nor do they voice opinions on anything political. It comes as no surprise that nobody in the family has yet to speak up about Prince Harry's phone-hacking case, currently being litigated in the United Kingdom. However, this week, the Prince's uncle and the brother of his late mother, Princess Diana, came to his defense and called out the media on some of their claims.
Earl Spencer, Price Harry's uncle from his mother's side of the family, publically addresses the phone hacking case via his social media. He also stands up for his nephew in a major way.
The initial tweet focused on a good part of Harry's testimony, which centered around his previous relationship with Chelsy Davy, which he maintains deteriorated as a result of the media.
"Is Harry still obsessed with former love Chelsy Davy?" tweeted Amanda Platell, the Daily Mail columnist. "Harry mentions her 118 times in court evidence, Meghan just five times. No wonder Meg's didn't show up!"
Earl used it as an opportunity to call out the journalist. "Pathetic, @amandajplatell – you have no shame, and even less credibility," Charles Spencer tweeted in response. "Last time I heard from you, you were guilty of libelling me, as your employer at @DailyMailUK agreed. Now you're put up (by them?) to misrepresent significant legal evidence as if it was something trivial."
Someone else responded: "Can you point me in the direction of the 'significant evidence' of phone hacking please?"
"The tens of millions paid out by the @DailyMirror group to those they hacked, to start with. Hope that helps," Spencer tweeted.
Spencer's pinned Tweet from 2021 also demonstrates how he feels about the media. "Today, for the third time, a 'paper has been forced by the Law to apologise for lying about me depriving Diana of a home.' The guilty journalist this time? Janice Turner – aka @VictoriaPeckham of @thetimes Yellow journalism," it states.
