Mark Zuckerberg recently took part in the Murph Challenge, a viral fitness trend.

Mark Zuckerberg might be best known for his mind, not his body. However, the brains behind Facebook and Meta is making headlines this week for an accomplishment that is totally unrelated to advancements in technology – he has gotten surprisingly ripped. The Silicone Valley tech titan shows off his fit physique in one of his latest social media posts, shared to Facebook and Instagram, revealing the workout responsible for his transformation.

The Facebook founder reveals that he has been doing the "Murph Challenge," a viral fitness trend inspired by a Navy Seal killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005. And, he even makes his daughters partake in the series of exercises with him.

He Does It Every Memorial Day with His Daughters

"I try to do the Murph challenge with the girls every Memorial Day as a tradition to honor those who defended us," Mark says in the post shared with his millions of followers. The grueling series of exercises was a favorite of the late Michael P Murphy, so the patriotic holiday is a perfect time to do them, he explains.

The Workout Is Hard Core

The workout is no joke, with Zuckerberg revealing details about the exercises. "One of Lt Murphy's favorite workouts was running a mile, then doing 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats, and then running another mile," he says.

He Does It While Wearing a 20 Pound Vest

However, there is a major catch. Zuckerberg completed the exercises, "all while wearing a 20lb weighted pack," which makes them all the more difficult. Zuckerberg concluded the post by revealing his stats. "This year I got it done in 39:58," he stated. "The girls did a quarter-Murph (unweighted) in 15 mins!"

The Challenge Has Raised $2 Million

Like other social media challenges, the point of the Murph Challenge is to raise money for veterans. So far over $2 million has been raised.

He Also Does Jiu-Jitsu

Zuckerberg has been extra committed to fitness recently. He has been sharing his fitness journey with his followers. One of his new hobbies? Jiu-jitsu. "Competed in my first jiu jitsu tournament and won some medals 🥇🥈 for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team," he captioned a recent post.

He Runs As Well

He has also been running and competing in marathons. "Good 5k with friends. Whole crew hit our sub-20 min goal, but that before and after photo shows we had to push!" he captioned an April 30 post.
